Youth Ministries
Family T.I.E.S. and T.E.C.O. Youth Group!
Each Wednesday, join us in the Church Fellowship Hall for dinner for the whole family! Starting at 6pm each Wednesday during the school year, we offer dinner for $2.00 per person or $5.00 donation per family. It's a great time of fellowship - not to mention the fantastic dinner that is served each week!
At 6:30 PM, the youth head over to the Solid Rock Cafe for a time of games, praise and worship, learning, and small group discussion. Students are dismissed at 8PM.
Sunday Night Bible Study - Going Deeper!
Have a student who needs to "go deeper" in his or her walk with the Lord? Sunday Night Bible Study may be the answer! Typically geared for high school students, youth gather in homes for an hour and a half to participate in an interactive time of study.
Groups meet from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. Each youth is asked to bring a drink and/ or snack to share with the group. Since this is an intense Bible study, students are asked to have their lessons completed ahead of time to ensure there is awesome discussion.
Church Camps!
Each summer, youth are given the opportunity to attend church camp at Hilltop Christian Camp in Columbus, Indiana, or at Camp Pyoca in Brownstown, Indiana. The church will pay $50.00 toward the application fee for those youth who are active in our church and want to go to camp.
Mission Trips!
Serving and helping others is an important part of our youth ministry at First Christian Church. Youth are given the opportunity each year to participate in a mission trip or an opportunity to do mission work in our own community. The youth have taken mission trips to Florida, New York, Colorado, and Illinois.
The Rock!
Every day after school, the Solid Rock Cafe is open until 5:30 PM for students in the 6th- 12th grade. Snacks, music, and games are all provided. This FREE after - school program is provided as a community outreach for the youth of Jennings County. Trained volunteers are on hand to provide a safe, welcoming environment. All volunteers have background checks on file to ensure the safety of our students.
Retreats and Special Events!
Frequent activities are planned for the youth. These events may include weekend retreats, attending a Christ in Youth (CIY) conference, going on short trips, a lock - in, or participating in a local mission project!
Reaching Out!
Teens are encouraged to participate in activities to serve in our church and in our community. Events in which the youth will be participating are the American Cancer Society's RELAY FOR LIFE and the Pregnancy Care Center's "Walk for Life." Also, our teens volunteer during "Summer Servin'," which serves as local mission projects involving the Jennings County Council on Domestic Violence, cleaning at the Solid Rock Cafe, and helping prepare for Vacation Bible School.
Panther Pride Sundays
One Sunday a month during the school year, groups from the Jennings County High School and/or the Jennings County Middle School (as well as their families!) are invited to come enjoy a home-cooked breakfast at 9:45 AM. The students and their coaches/leaders are then encouraged to stay for our 10:45 AM, where they will be recognized and honored during the worship service. Groups we have honored include: Jennings County High School Football Team, Basketball Teams, Volleyball Team, JCHS Concert Choir, "A Touch of Class," Jennings County Archery, and more.
Digging Deeper
Each Sunday evening during the school year, high school students (and those 8th grade students showing a genuine desire to grow in God's Word) meet from 5:30-7 PM in homes to "dig deeper" into God's Word. This group holds one another accountable and genuinely enjoys studying God's Word together. Special activities are scheduled for this group, including the annual Christmas "Progressive Dinner."
